  6-Nation Hockey: India U-23 women bag silver medal

India won the silver medal in the Six-Nation U-23 Women’s Hockey Tournament when they lost to Netherlands 1-6 in the final at Antwerp, Belgium today. Led by Preeti Dubey, India played a total of six matches in this tournament, won three, drew one and lost two.

Ealier at the league stage, India beat Ireland 4-1, Great Britain 1-0, Belgium 2-0; drew with Canada 0-0 and lost to Netherlands 1-8. The 18-member Indian team included one player from Odisha and she was mid-fielder Mariana Kujur.

July 15: India (Sangita Kumari 34’) beat Great Britain 1-0.
July 17: India (Sangita Kumari 36’, Salima Tete 42’) beat Belgium 2-0.
July 18: India
drew with Canada 0-0.
July 20: India lost to Netherlands 1-8.
July 21 (Final): India (Leelavathy Mallamada Jaya 39’) lost to Netherlands (Dicke 2’, Zerbo 5’,22’; Imme 19’, Moes 28’, Lisa 49’) 1-6.
