Odisha rode on a half-century each by in-form opener Swastik Samal and captain Raghunath Malla to beat Goa by six wickets in their Elite Group-C league match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 One-Day Limited-Overs Tournament at K L Saini Stadium in Jaipur today.
Electing to bat against Odisha, Goa made a challenging total of 248. Suman Kumar Das, Pritam Jena and Satyakam Bharadwaj picked two wickets each for Odisha. Chasing 249 for victory, Odisha romped home in 49 overs, losing four wickets in the process.
Samal and Malla set the platform for the win with a 140-run partnership for the second wicket. Samal, who scored a century in the previous game against Jammu & Kashmir, slammed 95 (113b, 12x4, 1x6) today, while Malla hit 62 (102b, 3x4, 1x6).
Kunal Mallick and Anil Parida were other successful batsmen for Odisha, contributing unbeaten 35 and 33 respectively. This was the second win in six matches for Odisha, who will play their last match against Tamil Nadu at Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur on October 21.
