  Paramount triumph in U-19 Triangular League

Host Paramount Sporting emerged champions in the Under-19 Triangular Cricket League, defeating Rising Students Club of Cuttack by 55 runs in the final at Paramount Ground here today. Juvenile Cricket Academy (Cuttack) was the other participating team in the tournament that featured a total four matches.

Eminent cricket coach Kishore Mania handed over the trophy in the closing ceremony. Paramount Sporting president Pratap Jena and secretary Ashok Patra were present on the occasion.

 

Minal Parida of Paramount Sporting was adjudged the best batsman as well as the player of the tournament. Aniket Tripathy, Swayam Sarthak Routray and Avijit Tripathy were named best bowler, best fielder and best wicketkeeper respectively.

After completion of league matches, all three teams tied for the top spot with two points each. However, on the basis of net run rate, hosts Paramount Sporting and Rising Students qualified to meet each other in the final.

Jan 29 (Match No 1): Rising Student Club
175/10 in 35.1 overs (Mitrabhanu Panda 56, Nitish Samantaray 43, Ankit Patra 20; Asutosh Nayak 3/27, Swayam Sarthak Routray 2/19, Aniket Tripathy 2/28, Minal Parida 2/31) beat Paramount Sporting 143/10 in 34.2 overs (Minal Parida 41, Anshuman Sahoo 28; Nitish Samantaray 3 wkts, Anwesh Das and Sai Prasad Acharya each 2 wkts) by 32 runs. Player of the Match: Nitish Samantaray.

Jan 31 (Match No 2): Juvenile Cricket Academy 99/10 in 32.2 overs (Anil Parida 43; Ritesh Priyaranjan 4/8, Pratyush Sahoo 2/12, Asutosh Nayak 2/14) lost to Paramount Sporting 103/8 in 28 overs (M Gyanendra 30; BLS Bajrangi 5/19) by 2 wkts. PoM: Ritesh Priyaranjan.

Feb 2 (Match No 3): Juvenile Cricket Academy 207/6 in 40 overs (Anil Parida 91, Siddharth Nayak 34; Somen Chand and Sai Prasad Acharya 2 wkts each) beat Rising Students 193/9 in 40 overs (Sasank Rungta 45, Prabhu Nanda 22; Binit Mohanty 4 wkts, Pankaj Senapati 2 wkts) by 14 runs. PoM: Anil Parida.

Feb 3 (Match 4, Final): Paramount Sporting 182/9 in 40 overs (Manitej Mohanty 62, Sudarshan Swain 34; Avijit Sahoo 4 wkts, Sai Prasad Acharya 2 wkts) beat Rising Students Club 127/10 in 33 overs (Biswajit Patra 21; Aniket Tripathy 4 wkts, Ritesh Priyaranjan and Ashutosh Nayak each 2 wkts) by 55 runs.
