  Odisha teams disappoint in Indian Women League

Both the Cuttack-based Odisha teams _ Rising Student Club and SAI-STC _ put up disappointing show in the 3rd Indian Women League (IWL) Football Tournament, which was held at Guru Nanak Stadium on Ludhiana, Punjab from May 5, 2019.

SAI-STC Cuttack finished fourth in Group-II with six points from five matches. They won two and lost three, scoring five goals and conceding 21 in the process. Defending champions Rising Student Club finished fifth in Group-I with four points from five games. They won one, drew one and lost three, scoring four goals and conceding 10.


As many as 12 teams, including two from Odisha are participating in the third edition of IWL Football Tournament, which commenced on May 5. But neither Rising Students Club nor SAI Training Centre have disclosed players names of respective team yet.


May 5:
Rising Students FC lost to Gokulam Kerala FC (Sanju 12`, Manisha 19`, 72’, 78’, Anju Tamang 28`) 0-5.
May 7: Rising Students FC lost to SSB Women Football Team (Sangita Basfore 43’) 0-1. PoM: Rani Bhowmick (RSFC).
May 8: SAI-STC lost to Manipur Police SC (Bala Devi 10, 15, 41, 45, 58, 65, 80; Rinaroy Devi 41, Daya Devi 66) 10-0.
May 10: SAI-STC lost to Sethu FC (Ratnabala Devi 4’, 29’, 88’, Sandhiya 9’, 87’, Indumathi 45+2’, Dangmei Grace 66’, Subha Patra 73’-OG, Sabitra Bhandari 81’) 0-9.
May 11: Rising Students FC (Sradhanjali Panda 90+1’) lost to Hans Women FC (Rita Casia 48’, Anushka Samuel 67’) 1-2.
May 12: SAI-STC Cuttack (Susmita Dalei 50’, Deepa Nayak 53’, Niketa Bishi 87’, Rashmi Jee 90’) beat Baroda FA 4-0.
May 13: Rising Student Club (Satyabati Khadia 43’) drew with Panjim Footballers (Karishma Shirvoikar 19’) 1-1. PoM: Ashika Gadekar (PF).
May 14: SAI-STC Cuttack (Deepa Nayak 76’) beat Bangalore United FC 1-0.
May 16: SAI-STC Cuttack lost to FC Kolhapur City (Kamala Devi 4’, Renu 33’) 0-2.
May 17: Rising Student Club (Shibani Sharma 4’, Ashrita Kangadi 30’) beat FC Alakhpura (Raveena 28’) 2-1.
