  SAFF Women Football: India storm into semifinals
BHUBANESWAR,17 Mar 2019 (Team Orisports)

Defending champions India sealed their place in the semifinal of the SAFF Women Championship with a 5-0 victory against Sri Lanka at the Sahid Rangashala Stadium in Biratnagar, Nepal today. The result extended unbeaten run of India in the history of tournament to 21 games and secured the top spot in Group B.

In the semifinal, they will now take on Group A runners-up Bangladesh on Wednesday (March 20) while hosts Nepal will face Sri Lanka in the other fixture. Earlier India decimated Maldives 6-0 to make a resounding start in championship on March 13.

Odisha defender Jabamani Tudu is representing India in this tournament, which will be the last opportunity for the team to fine tune their preparation for the crucial 2020 Olympic Qualifiers Round 2, which is slated to be held in Myanmar from April 1 to 9.

March 13: India (Dangmei Grace 8`, Sandhiya 13`, Indumathi 22`, Sanju 27`, 89`; Ratanbala Devi 45+4`) beat Maldives 6-0.
March 17: India (Dangmei Grace 4’, Sandhiya Ranganathan 7’, Indumathi Kathiresan 36’, Sangita Basfore 45’, Ratnabala Devi 50’) beat Sri Lanka 5-0.
