The campaign of hosts Odisha started and ended at the league stage. Odisha girls narrowly missed a quarterfinal berth as they finished third in Group C with three wins and two losses. Odisha boys contended themselves with fifth position in Group-A with one win and four defeats.
The championship was inaugurated by Odisha Sports & Youth Services Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev in the presence of Odisha Mining Corporation Managing Director R Vineel Krishna, VFI secretary general Ram Avatar Singh Jhakhar and OVA president Subodh Kumar Routray.
Police IG Amitabh Thakur handed over the trophies in the closing ceremony. KIIT & KISS founder Prof Achyuta Samanta, VFI president S Vasudevan, OVA working president Sanjay Das and secretary Dr Gaganendu Dash were present on the occasion.
The championship featured 25 boys and 22 girls teams. This was the second time that a volleyball national event was hosted by Odisha. The earlier one was the Junior National, held at KIIT campus in 2009.

Feb 25: Odisha lost to Kerala 1-3 (20-25, 27-25, 14-25, 11-25). Feb 26: Odisha lost to Maharashtra 1-3 (20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 20-25). Feb 26: Odisha lost to Bihar 0-3 (21-25, 15-25, 21-25).
