  Jr Women National Boxing: Odisha pugilists bite dust

The 3rd Junior Women National Boxing Championship, which commenced at National Boxing Academy, Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex in Rohtak (Haryana) on September 8, turned out to be a nightmare for Odisha pugilists as all six of them bite dust in the first round.

Among the six, Naina Mukhi and Rajalia Kujur lost to respective opponents by 0-5 points, while Rani Das, Arpita Lakra, Ayushmita Panigrahi and Anuradha Jena suffered heavy punishment in respective bouts, which were eventually stopped by referee.

The six boxers represented Odisha Amateur Boxing Association. Organised by Boxing Federation of India, the Junior Women National Championship is scheduled to conclude on September 13.

ODISHA RESULTS:
Pin Weight (44-46 kg):
Rani Das (Odisha) lost to Sanjana (Delhi) Referee Stopped Contest.
Light Fly Weight (46-48 kg): Arpita Lakra (Odisha) lost to Tamanna (Haryana) Referee Stopped Contest.
Bantam Weight (52-54 kg): Ayushmita Panigrahi (Odisha) lost to Ayushi Pal (Delhi) Referee Stopped Contest.
Feather Weight (54-57 kg): Rajalia Kujur (Odisha) lost to Nrutaa Shah (Maharashtra) 0-5.
Light Weight (57-60 kg): Anuradha Jena (Odisha) lost to Reena (Rajasthan) Referee Stopped Contest.
Light Welter Weight (60-63 kg): Naina Mukhi (Odisha) lost to Aashreya Dinesh Naik (Goa) 0-5.
