Odisha women won the silver medal in the Senior National Rugby Sevens Championship, after losing to host Bihar 12-17 in the hard-fought final at the Patliputra Stadium in Patna, Bihar today. Led by Hupi Majhi, Odisha earlier beat West Bengal in the semifinals and Delhi in the quarterfinals.

Odisha men, led by Bikranta Kumar Rauta, finished sixth in the three-day championship, which served as platform for shortlisting players to join the Indian National Training Camp for the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy (Men & Women) on 10-11 August, 2019. Both the Odisha teams qualified to participate in the 37th National Games, scheduled to be held in Goa.
