Odisha suffered a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Tamil Nadu in their opening Elite Group-C match of the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament at SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore today. The four-day matche ended within two days. Tamil Nadu gained seven points, while Odisha drew blank.

Put into bat, Odisha rode on a brilliant century by captain Anil Parida to compile a total of 281. Parida hit 136 with the help of 17 boundaries and two sixes. In reply, Tamil Nadu made 304 with captain Pradosh Ranjan Paul being the top scorer with 118. Ankitkar Jaiswal was the most successful Odisha bowler, bagging six wickets for 93 runs.

After conceding a first-innings lead of 23 runs, Odisha were bundled out for 95 in the second innings. Chasing a victory target of 72, Tamil Nadu romped home without losing any wicket in the second innings.
