  Odisha girls crowned Sub-jr National Kho-kho Champs

Odisha girls scripted history by winning gold medal for their first time in the Sub-Junior National Kho Kho Championships, the 30th edition of which got over at Albert Ekka Kho-Kho Stadium in Ranchi today. Odisha narrowly missed a double crown as their boys settled for silver medal in the five-day championships.

In the finals, last years silver medalists Odisha girls beat defending champions Maharashtra by 15-7. Ananya Pradhan of Odisha girl bagged the Ekalavya Award as the best performer of the championship. But Maharashtra boys retained the title, defeating Odisha by eight points and an innings in the summit clash.

 

Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha girls beat hosts Jharkhand by an innings and three points while Odisha boys prevailed over Andhra Pradesh 19-18 points. Odisha boys made it to the final after a gap of 29 years.
