Three-wicket haul by Sandeep Chauhan and half-century by Aditya Rout went in vain as Odisha lost to Bihar by 37 runs in their Elite Group-C match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field in Guwahati today.

This was the second match for Odisha after their opening game against Kerala was abandoned due to rain. Odisha will next meet Himachal Pradesh on October 10.

Electing to bat against Odisha, Bihar made a competitive total of 187 and then bowled out the opposition for 150. Among Odisha bowlers, Suraj Behera and Nitish Samantaray picked up two wickets apiece apart from the three-wicket haul by Chauhan.

Aditya Rout was the only Odisha batsman to play a praise-worthy knock. He hit 12 boundaries and one six in the belligerent knock of 59, which came off only 33 balls. Had Aditya stayed a little longer at the crease, the outcome of the match would have been different.
