Odisha came from behind to beat Bihar by 45 runs on the third and last day of their opening match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy East Zone U-16 Cricket Tournament at Bidanasi Ground here today. Put into bat by Bihar captain Aditya, Odisha were bowled out for 94.

In reply, Bihar made 146 to take a lead of 52 runs. But the home team bounced back into the game by compiling a challenging total of 208 in the second innings and then dismissed the opposition for 111. Ansuman Bej, captain Shresth Singh and Saideep Mohapatra played instrumental roles in the Odisha win.

Bej was most successful bowler, bagging eight wickets in the match. Shresth led from the front, scalping seven wickets in the game and hitting a valuable 46 in the second innings. Mohapatra scored the only half-century in the match for the home team in the second essay.
