  Panthers, Lions set up OCL T20 summit clash

Odisha Panthers will cross swords against Odisha Lions in the final of the MGM Odisha T20 Cricket League at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack tomorrow. In the semifinals today, Odisha Panthers beat Odisha Tigers by five wickets, while Odisha Lions trounced Odisha Pumas by 75 runs.

Opening batsman Abhishek Yadav was the main architect of the Panthers win, hitting an unbeaten 50 off 39 balls with the help of five boundaries and one six. In reply to a total of 117 for nine by Odisha Tigers, Odisha Panthers romped home with one ball to spare. Yadav was declared the man of the match.

 

Lions opening batsman Swastik Samal was the star of the second semifinal, hitting the first century of the tournament. His unbeaten 110 (68 balls, 7x4, 7x6) powered enabled Lions pile up 172 for two, the highest total of the tournament. In reply, Pumas were bowled out for 97.

Sibashish Sahoo and Bikash Rout captured four and three wickets respectively for the Lions. Swastik Samal pocketed Rs 5,000 as the man of the match.
