  Natl Wheelchair Fencing: Odisha on top with 24 medals

Putting up their best ever performance, Odisha para-fencers bagged a rich haul of 24 medals in the two-day 13th National Wheelchair Fencing Championship, which concluded in Karnal, Haryana yesterday. The nine medals featured nine gold, eight silver and seven bronze.

The 14-member Odisha squad garnered as many as 20 medals on the second day, which featured seven gold, seven silver and six bronze. Earlier on the opening day, they secured four medals, which included two gold, one silver and one bronze. All 14 members of the state squad were able to win medal in the championship.

Pujaswini Nayak proved to be the most successful Odisha para-fencer, winning a total of six medals, including four gold, one silver and one bronze. Among men, Rakhal Kumar Sethy won the highest number of six medals, which included two gold, three silver and one bronze.

MEN-A Group: Rakhal Kumar Sethy:
Gold in individual foil, silver in individual sabre and bronze in individual epee. V Ramesh Rao: Gold in individual epee and silver in individual foil. Pabitra Sahu: Bronze in individual sabre.
Men-B Group: Prafulla Khandayatray: Gold in individual sabre and silver in individual foil. Niku Pradhan: Bronze in individual sabre and bronze in individual epee.
Men Team: Gold in sabre by Rakhal Sethy, Prafulla Khandayatray, Pabitra Sahu and Debamruta Sahoo. Silver in epee by V Ramesh Rao, Rakhal Sethy, Niku Pradhan and Pravakar Behera. Silver in foil by V Ramesh Rao, Rakhal Sethy, Prafulla Khandayatray and Amiya Ranjan Tripathy.
Women Group-A: Malti Panaure: Gold in individual foil and Silver in individual epee. Sheela Mantri: Silver in individual sabre and bronze in individual foil. Karimun Nisha: Bronze in individual sabre.
Women Group-B: Pujaswini Nayak: Gold in individual epee, gold in individual sabre and silver in individual foil.
Women Team: Gold in epee by Malti Panaure, Sheela Mantri, Pujaswini Nayak and Juli Sahoo. Gold in foil by Malti Panaure, Sheela Mantri, Pujaswini Nayak and Supriya Biswas. Bronze in sabre: Malti Panaure, Sheela Mantri, Pujaswini Nayak and Karimun Nisha.
