  U-16 Cricket: Vishal bags 8/13; Samarpet slams 146

Bhubaneswar-B bowler Vishal Kumar and Balangir batsman Samarpet Patel put up outstanding performances in two preliminary league matches of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Jatni and Bhubaneswar today.

Vishal bagged eight wickets for 13 runs to propel Bhubaneswar-B to a 101-run win over Sonepur, while Samarpet hit a 157-ball 146 to power Balangir to a 246-run victory against Puri.

Bhubaneswar-A, Khordha, Nayagarh and Jharsuguda registered wins in four other matches of the day. Five other bowlers captured five wickets each, while three batsmen hit a half-century apiece in the day.
 

RESULTS (11 August, 2021):

Match 55 (At Paramount Ground, Bhubaneswar): Deogarh 73/10 in 19.5 overs (Adarsha Bhanja 29; Jeeban J Ranasingh 5/6, Jagadish Mohapatra 3/17, Durga P Mallick 2/39) lost to Bhubaneswar-A 74/5 in 11.1 overs (Janmejoy Sahoo 44*; Arric Yahan 4/11) by 5 wickets.

Match 56 (At Town Club Ground, Bhubaneswar): Gajapati 108/10 in 25.3 overs (Brain H Singh 64; Sumit Mishra 5/16, Aryan Ojha 4/14) lost to Khordha 109/8 in 20.2 overs (Mrityunjay 56, Shivam Gupta 24; Brain H Singh 4/31, Santosh Pradhan 2/19) by 2 wickets.

Match 57 (At Khordha Ground): Nuapada 61/10 in 29 overs (Saransh Rout 4/14, Debajyoti Das Pattanaik 4/14, Kartik Nayak 2/16) lost to Nayagarh 62/3 in 23.5 overs (Dibyajyoti D Pattanaik 32*; Mohammed Rihan 1/10) by 7 wickets.

Match 58 (At CV Raman Ground, Bhubaneswar): Bhubaneswar-B 154/10 in 39.4 overs (Priyanshu R Sahoo 35, Vishal Kumar 32, Sreey A Pattnaik 24; Barun N Das 3/33, Subham Badmali 2/21) beat Sonepur 53/10 in 16 overs (Vishal Kumar 8/13, Bibek R Samal 2/26) by 101 runs.

Match 59 (At Hi-Tech Ground, Bhubaneswar): Jharsuguda 108/10 in 22 overs (Somesh Mahana 5/36, Sheikh Hayat 2/27, Vinay K Sharma 2/22) beat Bargarh 52/10 in 23.5 overs (Sachin K Yadav 5/10, Bishal Prasad 2/5) by 56 runs.

Match 60 (At Centurion Ground, Jatni): Balangir 316/7 in 50 overs (Samarpet S Patel 146, Piyush Panda 59; Kunal Das 3/77) beat Puri 70/10 in 33.2 overs (Tanuj Pasoria 26; Benudhar Seth 5/2, Omkar Mohanty 2/14) by 246 runs.
