  Kalahandi Cup Cricket: Khordha upset Bhubaneswar-A

Khordha caused a major upset in the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament (Senior & U-19 Men), defeating Bhubaneswar-A by 6 wickets, via VJD Method in their truncated preliminary league match at SCB Medical College Ground in Cuttack today. Khordha captain Aryashree Debasis Bhatta guided his team to the creditable win, hitting an unbeaten 65.

The tournament is being organised by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) at different venues in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. East Coast Railway, Angul, Cuttack-B, Sundargarh and Dhenkanal also posted wins, while the match between Kendrapara and Kalahandi ended in a tie. Two matches were abandoned due to rain.

Samal hit an unbeaten 174 (152 balls, 17x4, 3x6) to power the Railway side beat Kendrapara by 38 runs at KIIT Cricket Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. Ganjam, Boudh, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Bhubaneswar-A, Khordha and Nayagarh posted wins in eight other matches of the day.

RESULTS (27 July, 2021):

Match 10
(At East Coast Railway Stadium, Bhubaneswar): Ganjam 77/6 in 27 overs (Jayanta K Behera 2/16, Malay K Jena 2/21) lost to East Coast Railway 88/4 in 12.2 overs (Sameer R Mohanty 32) by 6 wickets (VJD/Other method, Match reduced to 25 overs, target 85 runs).

Match 11 (At Nimpur Cricket Ground, Cuttack): Kalahandi 135/10 in 31.3 overs (Avijeet Mohanty 45, Dinesh Kumar Majhi 24; Vimal Kumar 4/28, Biswabhusan Bihari 3/17, Amulya K Nayak 2/30) tied with Kendrapara 135/10 in 26.4 overs (Satya R Samal 29, Aakash Chandra Nayak 25; Gobinda Naik 4/43, Avijeet Mohanty 4/29).

Match 12 (At Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack): Boudh 123/10 in 37.1 overs (Jyoti Ranjan Dalai 69; Rakesh Biswal 4/26, Milan Samal 2/24, Santosh K Mohapatra 2/20, Deepak Tiwari 2/10) lost to Angul 126/3 in 25.3 overs (Rakesh Biswal 39, Nirnimesh Jena 37, Rakesh Gochhayat 24*; Anurag Kanojia 2/30) by 7 wickets.

Match 13
(At Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack): Bhadrak 129/10 in 38.4 overs (Kshyama Sagar Bal 41, Abinash Singh 29, Surya Mohapatra 20; Dhiraj Kumar Singh 4/13, Saideep Mohapatra 2/28) lost to Cuttack-B 130/5 in 35.5 overs (Abinash Nayak 58*, Bikram Kishor Samal 35; Abinash Singh 2/9, Nihar B Bhuyan 2/17) by 5 wickets.

Match 14
(At Bidanasi Ground, Cuttack): Nabarangpur 92/10 in 31.5 overs (Sheik A Riaz 22; Ashish Tiwari 5/28, Soubhagya Rout 2/26, Amit K Das 2/23) lost to Sundargarh 85/1 in 19.2 overs (Vicky Prasad 34*, Shivnandan Choubey 20*) by 9 wickets (DLS-Method, Match reduced to 42.0 overs, target 85 runs).

Match 15 (At Sunshine Ground, Cuttack): Dhenkanal 246/10 in 47.4 overs (Kunal Mallick 68, Mustak Beg 64, Anwesh Das 47; Akshaya K Odi 4/43, Achyut K Pradhan 2/47) beat Malkangiri 41/10 in 19.2 overs (Soumendra Das 5/18, Anwesh Das 2/6, Mustak Beg 2/16) by 181 runs (DLS metho, Match reduced to 40.0 overs, target 223 runs).

Match 16 (At SCB Medical College Ground, Cuttack): Bhubaneswar-A 173/10 in 49.3 overs (Subham Naik 39, Sudarshan Swain 36, Ayushraj Choudhury 27, Manas R Nayak 21; Sumit Maharana 3/16, Satya C Lenka 3/41-3, Aditya K Jaisingh 2/31) lost to Khordha 157/4 in 34.4 overs (Aryashree D Bhatta 65*, Jyoti R Behera 36) by 6 wickets (VJD/Other method, Match reduced to 40 overs, target 157 runs).

Match 17 (KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneswar): Balasore 24/1 in 7 overs vs Nayagarh (Match abandoned due to rain).

Match 18 (At Driems Cricket Stadium, Tangi, Cuttack): Deogarh 42/2 in 15.2 overs vs Nuapada (Match washed out due to rain & wet outfield. No result).
