  Yogamaya set to join NIS as sports psychologist

Orissa sports psychologist Yogamaya Panda is all set to join Sports Authority of India as a Junior Scientific Officer in the Department of Sports Psychology, Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala, shortly. "The JSO job is an ideal opportunity to gain knowledge, enhance skill and develop competitive edge for success in sports," said Yogamaya, who helped members of the State senior cricket team, including Debasis Mohanty, Shiv Sundar Das and promising tennis player Ansu Kumar Bhuyan perform better in their respective fields.

 

The 29-year-old former athlete earlier helped international athletes Seema Antil, Krishna Punia, Beenamol and weightlifters Kunjarani Devi, Karnam Malleswari and Sanamacha Chanu while doing research in sports psychology on the topic "Relationship among task and ego orientations, sport confidence, trait anxiety and goal setting styles in elite Indian athletes" at NIS, Patiala. Yogamaya is currently working as a student counselor and psychologist at the ICFAI Business School here.
