Bhubaneswar sprinter Amiya Kumar Mallick and his guide Nila Madhab Deo were honoured with the Ashok Patnaik Memorial Sports Award as the best young athlete and best coach for the year 2008 today. In the absence of Amiya, now participating in the East Zone meet, his father Arakhita Mallick received the award. Hockey Olympians Dilip Tirkey and Lazrus Barla gave away the awards in a function at Sahid Sporting Club ground. The award for the best sports organisation went to R D Youth Club for promoting hockey in rural areas of Sundargarh district.
