  Natl Road Cycling: Swasti emerges best with double gold

Odisha cycling star Swasti Singh achieved outstanding success by bagging two gold medals and the best woman cyclist trophy in the 28th National Road Cycling Championship, which was held in Vijayapur, Karnataka from 9 to 12 January 2024.

Swasti achieved these successes for her employer Indian Railways, where she joined as a TTI in November 2023. An inmate of National Cycling Academy, New Delhi, Swasti claimed the two gold medals in women elite 80km mass start and 35km criterium race.

A native of Steel City Rourkela, Swasti won the yellow metal in 80km mass start, clocking 2:36:12.450 on January 11. She won the criterium race the next day, garnering maximum points.

The next target of Swasti will be the National selection trials for the 43rd Senior Asian Track Cycling Championships, which is scheduled to be held at Indoor Cycling Velodrome, IG Sports Complex, New Delhi from 21 to 26 February 2024.
