  KI Jr Women Swimming Series: Odisha bag 12 first prizes

Odisha asserted supremacy by bagging 12 out of 20 first prizes in the Khelo India Junior Womens Swimming Series-2023 (Round-4, Zone-4), which was held at the Kalinga Stadium Aquatic Centre in Bhubaneswar on 20 and 21 January 2024.

Dibyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan was the most successful Odisha swimmer, bagging three first prizes. Vadra Satpathy, Mannata Mishra and Arpita Samal were other notable prize winners with two first positions each.

Women swimmers in the age group of under 18 and under 15 from Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh participated in this series, which was organized under the aegis of Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Swimming Federation of India (SFI). A total of 60 swimmers participated in the event which was managed by The Odisha State Swimming Association (TOSSA).

TOSSA president Pradip Kumar Padhee, vice-president Akshaya Pradhan, technical head Surendra Nayak, SFI joint-secretary Lakshmi Chandra Mahakur gave away the prizes at the closing ceremony. Cash awards (Rs 6,000 to Rs 1,000) were given to the participants with first to fifth position in each event, which was supported by the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha.

UNDER-18 AGE GROUP:
Vadra Satpathy
1st in 200m freestyle (2:29.48), 1st in 400m freestyle (5:20.42) and 2nd in 100m backstroke (1.23.26).
Dibyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan 1st in 100m butterfly (1:08.36), 1st in 200m breaststroke (2:57.00), 1st in 200m butterfly (2:35.99) and 2nd in 200m individual medley (2:39.26).
Mannata Mishra 1st in 200m individual medley (2:38.96) and 1st in 100m breaststroke (1:20.12).
Akankshya Nayak 1st in 200m backstroke (2:59.47), 3rd in 200m freestyle (2:37.06) and 4th in 100m butterfly (1:38.75).
Mahika Mahakur 2nd in 100m breaststroke (1:41.22), 3rd in 100m backstroke (1.36.49) and 4th in 200m freestyle (2:56.23).
Anupriya Panda 3rd in 400m freestyle (6:32.34) and 5th in 200m freestyle (3:06.58).
Daspreet Kaur Sodhi 2nd in 200m backstroke (3:41.13), 4th in 100m backstroke (1.46.22) and 4th in 400m freestyle (6:51.68).
Ayusree Dutta 2nd in 400m freestyle (5:54.67), 2nd in 200m butterfly (2:51.57), 3rd in 100m butterfly (1:14.68) and 4th in 200m individual medley (2:52.81).

UNDER-15 AGE GROUP:
Arpita Samal
1st in 100m butterfly (1:26.89) and 1st in 200m butterfly (3:15.04).
Arpita Seth 2nd in 200m backstroke (3:17.34), 3rd in 100m backstroke (1:31.28) and 5th in 100m freestyle (1:18.37).
Anchal Bag 1st in 100m breaststroke (1:38.51), 2nd in 200m breaststroke (3:28.92) and 5th in 400m freestyle (6:01.91).
Anshika Aradhana Sahu 1st in 100m freestyle (1:07.21), 2nd 200m freestyle (2:29.37) and 2nd in 400m freestyle (5:23.73).
Reshma Majhi 3rd in 400m freestyle (5:49.72), 4th in 200m freestyle (2:46.70) and 5th in 200m individual medley (3:16.95).
Chinmayee Behera Sweety 5th in 200m freestyle (2:47.76).
Shreya Suman Das 2nd in 100m backstroke (1:24.37) and 4th in 200m individual medley (3:15.74).
Anuva Jena 3rd in 200m backstroke (3:30.05), 5th in 100m backstroke (1:37.58) and 5th in 100m breaststroke (1:51.12).
Sristee Kalas Siney 3rd in 100m butterfly (1:31.18).
Aliyana Panda 3rd in 200m breaststroke (3:48.52) and 4th in 100m breaststroke (1:49.05).
Jyoti Salma 4th in 200m breaststroke (4:10.14).
Lija Karna 5th in 200m breaststroke (4:17.72).
Manyata Mishra 4th in 200m backstroke (3:30.60).
Tanvi Mishra 5th in 200m backstroke (4:33.19).
Diptimayee Singh 4th in 400m freestyle (5:51.11).
Pratikhya Nandi 2nd in 200m butterfly (3:23.89).
