Odisha suffered their third defeat in Ranji Trophy Cricket Championship, losing to Uttarakhand by 162 runs on the fourth and last day of their Elite Group-D match at DRIEMS Ground, Tangi (Cuttack) today.

With this crushing defeat Odisha plummeted to the seventh position in the eight-team group table with 12 points from six matches. They will play their seventh and last match against Delhi at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi from February 16 to 19.

Poor batting was the main reason for the defeat of Odisha against Uttarakhand. Only two batters of the home team could score a half-century in the match. Young stumper Aashirwad Swain slammed 54 in the first innings, while experienced Subhranshu Senapati hit 61 in the second.
Odisha bowlers also could not do much to compensate for the failure of their batters. On the other hand, Uttarakhand batters slammed one century and three fifties in the match. Uttarakhand pacer Deepak Dhapola did maximum damage to the batting line-up, bagging eight wickets in the match. He was awarded as the Player of the Match.
