  Cricket for Blind: India sweep T20 bilateral series 5-0

India rode on a blistering knock of 70 by Odisha batter Nakula Badanayak to trounc Sri Lanka by 90 runs in the fifth and last match of the Samarth Championship for Blind Cricket, a mens international bilateral T20 cricket series at Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi today.

With this win, India made a clean sweep of the series 5-0. Four players from Odisha represented the Indian team in this series. They were: Debaraj Behera (B1), Pankaj Bhue (B2), Nakula Badanayak (B2) and Sukhram Majhi (B3).

 

Badanayak not only bagged the award as player of the fifth match but also the player of the series award in B2 category. India captain Ajay Kumar Reddy and Sri Lanka batter Chandana Deshapriya also won the player of the series prize of Rs 15,000 each in B1 and B3 category respectively. Team India received the series winners prize of Rs 1,50,000, while Sri Lanka took home the runners-up prize of Rs 80,000.

(1st T20 at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi): India 277/5 in 20 overs (Ajay Kumar Reddy 96*, T Durga Rao 45, Magunta Sai 36; Dinesh Muduwantha 2/32) beat Sri Lanka 145/6 in 20 overs (Dinesh Muduwantha 44*; T Durga Rao 1/3) by 132 runs. PoM: Ajay Kumar Reddy.

12 March 2024 (2nd T20 at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi): India 273/5 in 20 overs (Ajay Kumar Reddy 84 rh, Nakula Badanayak 65, Gudadappa 48, Sunil Ramesh 36; Saman Thashara 2/30, Suranga Sampath 2/39) beat Sri Lanka 139/4 in 20 overs (Saman Thashara 51*; Debaraj Behera 1/9, Pankaj Bhue 1/14) by 134 runs. 13 March 2024 (3rd T20 at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi): Sri Lanka 162/3 in 20 overs (Chandana Deshapriya 76*, Damith Sandaruwan 46; Pankan Bhue 1/13) lost to India 164/3 in 15.3 overs (Pankan Bhue 49, Lokesha 33*, Dinesh Rathva 32; Saman Thushara 1/33, Mohanraj 1/37) by 7 wickets. 14 March 2024 (4th T20 at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi): Sri Lanka 142/7 in 20 overs (Dinesh Muduwantha 35*, Chandana Deshapriya 31; Sukhram Majhi 1/8, Nakula Badanayak 1/15) lost to India 143/2 in 13.2 overs (Debaraj Behera 54, Magunta Sai 50*; Dinesh Muduwantha 2/33) by 8 wickets. 15 March 2024 (5th T20 at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi): India 227/5 in 20 overs (Nakula Badanayak 70, T Durga Rao 49, Gudadappa 40; Suman Thushara 1/28) beat Sri Lanka 137/7 in 20 overs (Tharindu Lakshan 28; Lokesh 2/8) by 90 runs. PoM: Nakula Badanayak.
