05 Apr 2024

Odisha junior international Aahan clinched a double crown by winning both the singles and doubles titles in the TAB AITA-OTA Super Series U-18 Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Tennis Association of Bhubaneswar (TAB), under the aegis of Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) and All India Tennis Association (AITA) at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Centre in Bhubaneswar from 1 to 5 April 2024.

Local favourites Aahan emerged singles champion, trouncing West Bengal opponent Rituja Saha in the lop-sided final 6-0, 6-0. Brand ambassador of Bhubaneswar-based Ace Base Tennis Academy, Aahan won the doubles title with West Bengal partner Akanksha Ghosh, defeating West Bengal-Andhra Pradesh combination of Rituja Saha and Joshita Goli in the final 6-2, 6-2.

Odisha missed another title in the five-day tournament as Subhranil Barman settled as boys singles runner-up after conceding his final match against M Diganth of Karnataka due to injury. Subhranil suffered the unfortunate injury while trailing 0-3 in the second, after losing the hard-fought first set 5-7.

Maharashtra players asserted supremacy in the boys doubles event, emerging both champions and runners-up. In the final, Pradyumna Singh Tomar and his partner Dreek Saha edged out their state-mates Neeraj Ringangaonkar and Neel Joglekar 4-6, 6-3 (10-3).
