  Senior Women NFC: Luck eludes Odisha a semifinal berth

Odisha missed a semifinal berth in the 30th Senior Women National Football Championship (Final Round) for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy after holding Tamil Nadu to a 1-1 draw in their fourth and last Group-A league match at RKM Ashram Ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh today. Odisha bowed out of the championship, finishing third in their group, while West Bengal and Tamil Nadu advanced to the last-four stage.

West Bengal emerged group toppers with 10 points from four matches. Odisha and Tamil Nadu tied for the second spot with seven points each, winning two games, losing one and drawing one. With both the teams scoring eight goals and conceding four apiece their goal difference also proved to be identical (four each).
 

The deadlock finally ended on the basis of spin of coin, which Tamil Nadu won and secured the semifinal spot. It was a heartbreaking exit for Odisha women, who were runners-up in the last two editions of the Senior National championship and the National Games. The 20-member Odisha team was led by India star striker Pyari Xaxa with Juli Kishan as vice-captain. A total of 10 teams participate in the Final Round

5 October 2025 (League match): Odisha (Pyari Xaxa 15, 16, 90+1, Satyabati Khadia 35) beat Goa (Karishma Purushottam Shirvoikar 56, 64) 4-2. PoM: Pyari Xaxa.

7 October 2025 (Group League): Odisha (Jasoda Munda 23, Ipshita Rout 45, Pyari Xaxa 90+5) beat Chhattisgarh 3-0. PoM: Jasoda Munda.

9 October 2025 (Group League): Odisha (Pyari Xaxa 55) drew with Tamil Nadu (Priyadarshini 10) 1-1. PoM: ?
