Weightlifter Rinki Nayak won the silver medal for Berhampur University in the women 48kg weight class with a total lift of 149kg at Maharaja Ganga Singh University Indoor Hall in Bikaner. She lifted 63 kg in snatch and 86 kg in clean and jerk.
The 5th Khelo India University Games was declared open by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on November 24. Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya was present on the occasion.
KIUG-2025 is being hosted by Poornima University, under the aegis of Sports Authority of India and in collaboration with Rajasthan Government and the Association of Indian Universities.
A total of 4448 athletes from 222 universities will compete in 23 medal sports. Competitions are being held in seven cities. Kho-kho will be a demonstration event. A total of 296 gold medals will be up for grabs. KIUG-2025 is scheduled to conclude on December 5.
