  SGFI Archery: Odisha duo captures 3 gold medals

Odisha student archers Rohit Kumar Marndi and Reshma Mallick captured three gold medals for the State in the 69th SGFI U-17 National Archery Championship, which is being organised by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Hotwar-Ranchi, Jharkhand from 5 to 10 January 2026.

Rohit, a Class-X student at UGP Government High School, Baripada, Mayurbhanj, bagged one gold each in boys Indian Round 30m distance and Olympics Elimination Round. He scored 346 points in the 30m distance to win the gold, while Toran Yadaw (Chhattisgarh) and Pragyan Gogoi (Assam) took the silver and bronze medal respectively, scoring 345 points each.

 

According to Odisha Archery Association secretary Sampurnananda Das, Rohit went on to clinch a treble as he also secured the gold medal in mixed team elimination round with Reshma as his partner. Reshma is a student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar.

As many as 18 archers are representing Odisha, under the banner of the Odisha State School Sports Organisation, which is the sports wing of the Department of School and Mass Education. The Odisha squad includes 11 girls and seven boys.
