Odisha student athlete Sunita Naik won the bronze medal in girls Recurve Olympic Round of the 69th SGFI U-17 National Archery Championship, which is being organised by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in Hotwar-Ranachi, Jharkhand from 5 to 10 January 2026.
According to Odisha Archery Association secretary Sampurnananda Das, this was the second National medal within a month for Sunita, who is a trainee of the Odisha-Tata Archery High Performance Centre in Keonjhar. She was part of the Odisha team that won the recurve bronze medal at the 45th NTPC Junior National Archery Championship held last month in Raipur, Chhattsigarh.
The bronze by Sunita was the fourth medal for Odisha in the SGFI U-17 National Archery Championship, after Rohit Kumar Marndi and Reshma Mallick bagged three gold medals in the Indian Round earlier on January 7.
