Kiran, Unnati crowned Odisha Masters singles champions
14 Dec 2025

Kiran George and Unnati Hooda clinched double crown for India by emerging mens and womens singles champions respectively in the Odisha Masters 2025, a BWF Tour Super 100 International Badminton Tournament which was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack from 9 to 14 December 2025.

Indonesia also bagged a double, winning the mens doubles and mixed doubles titles, while the womens doubles crown went to Bulgaria. The six-day tournament, which offered a total prize money of USD 1,10,000, was jointly organised by the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha and Orissa State Badminton Association.

This was the fourth edition of the annual tournament which was first held as Odisha Open in 2022. From the second edition, it has been named as Odishas Masters. Opening ceremony of the 2025 edition was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Revenue Minister Suresh Kumar Pujari.

The State Government spent crores of rupees to host the tournament, which, however, did little or nothing for the benefit of the badminton sport in Odisha and its players. Only three pairs from the host state got the opportunity to compete in the main draw and they all lost in the first round.

Of course, Odisha Masters proved to be a good platform to boost the images of politicians and bureaucrats, whose photos and videos as guests and officials flooded the media platforms.

ODISHA PERFORMANCE (Main draw):
Ayush Pattanayak and Abinash Mohanty lost in mens doubles first round.
Murali Krishna Kannuri and Abhijit Maharana lost in mens doubles first round.
Ayush Dash and Purba Pratyasha Panda lost in mixed doubles first round.
