Renowned Odisha women swimmers Pratyasa Ray and Mannata Mishra secured one silver medal each on the opening day of the All India Inter-University Aquatics (Men & Women) Championship, which is being organised by SRM University, under the auspices of Association of Indian Universities, at Dr TR Paarivendhar Aquatic Complex in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 18 to 23 December 2025.
Representing Chandigarh University, Pratyasa won the silver medal in women 50m backstroke, clocking 31.08 seconds. Bhubaneswar swimmer Pratyasa made Utkal University the state proud at the 5th Khelo India University Games in Rajasthan earlier this month, bagging three gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
Mannata claimed the silver medal for Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in women 200m breaststroke with a timing of 2:44.05. Two more KIIT swimmers narrowly missed respective bronze medals.
Divyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan secured fourth position in women 200m breaststroke, clocking 2:47.54. Nilabjaa also finished fourth in the 100m butterfly with a timing of 1:04.66. Around 115 universities from across the country are participating in the All-India Inter-University Aquatics Championship.
