  KITG 2026: Odisha swimmers sign off with 16 medals

Odisha swimmers ended their campaign on a glorious note, reaping a rich harvest of 16 medals, including five on the fourth day, in the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) at the International Swimming Pool in Raipur, Chhattisgarh today. The 16 medals featured seven gold, one silver and eight bronze.

With weightlifting fetching one silver today and seven in total, the overall tally for Odisha climbed up to 23. Odisha continued to hold the second spot in the overall medals tally with nine gold, four silver and 10 bronze.

Odisha women swimmers clinched all the three gold medals on offer on the fourth day to emerge team champions with 102 points. Odisha won the three gold medals through Ritika Minz (100m freestyle, 1:12.93s), Anjali Munda (50m backstroke, 36.37s) and 4x100 medley relay team. Anjali emerged as the most successful Odisha athlete with five gold medals, including four in individual events.

 

Odisha 4x100 medley relay team, featuring Anjali Munda, Anjali Mallick, Ritika Minz and Rupali Hembram, won the gold with a time of 05:46.86s. Besides the three gold, Odisha swimmers pocketed one silver and one bronze today.

Krushna Priya Nayak secured the silver in womens 100m freestyle event, clocking 1:15.77s, while Rajesh Soren got the bronze in mens 50m backstroke with a time of 32.03s. Odisha men finished second runners-up in team championship, gathering 31 points. 

Odisha bagged the silver medal in weightlifting today through Srimati Jani in womens 77kg weight category. She lifted 59kg in snatch and 67kg in clean & jerk for a total of 126kg at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University in Raipur.
