  Sunelita lone Odisha face in Indian women World Cup squad

Hockey India today announced a 20-member Indian women squad for the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held in Belgium and Netherlands from 15 to 30 August 2026. Midfielder Sunelita Toppo, with 52 senior international caps to her name, is the only face from to have found a place in the National team.

Salima Tete will lead the squad with Sjoerd Marijne as the chief coach. India has been drawn in Pool D, alongside China, England and South Africa. It will play all its pool-stage matches at the Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. Team India will open the campaign against China on August 16, followed by matches against South Africa on August 18 and England on August 20.

 

INDIAN WOMEN SQUAD FOR FIH WORLD CUP 2026:

Goalkeepers: Savita Punia, Bichu Devi Kharibam. Defenders: Ishika Chaudhary, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Lalthantluangi, Jyoti Rumavat, Shilpi Dabas. Midfielders: Nikki Pradhan, Sakshi Rana, Sunelita Toppo, Salima Tete (C), Neha Goyal, Deepika Soreng. Forwards: Lalremsiami, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Navneet Kaur, Deepika Sehrawat, Ishika, Baljeet Kaur, Beauty Dungdung.
