  FIH Mens Pro League: India lose as Manpree equals Tirkey record

India suffered a narrow 2-3 loss against the Netherlands in their ninth match of the FIH Mens Hockey Pro League at Hockey Club Rotterdam, Netherlands today. This was the sixth outright and eighth overall defeat for India, who stayed at the eighth and penultimate place of the league table with four points in their kitty. They have won one match in a shootout so far.

Dilpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh scored the two goals for India against Netherlands. This was the 412th international match for Indian mid-fielder Manpreet Singh, who equaled the record of Odisha legend and Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey as the most-capped mens international hockey player of India.

The third leg of the FIH Mens Pro League 2025-26 will be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from June 14 to 21. The fourth and last leg will take place in London, England from June 23 to 28. Two players from Odisha (Amit Rohidas and Shilanand Lakra) are representing the 18-member Indian mens team, which is being led by Harmanpreet Singh.

INDIA RESULTS:

14 June 2026 (Match 9, Rotterdam, Netherlands): India (Dilpreet Singh 10-FG, Sukhjeet Singh 33-PC) lost to Netherlands (Miles Bukkens 3-FG, Koen Bijen 23-FG, Tijmen Reyenga 40-PC).
