Star power and greater experience helped Air India beat local favourites Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) 5-2 in the final to win the All-India Public Sector Hockey Tournament at the Biju Patnaik hockey stadium here on Wednesday last. Drag-flick specialist Sandeep Singh and Joga Singh scored a brace each, while Girish Pimple contributed one goal in the Air India victory.

The young SAIL side put up spirited fight but lost the match by conceding two goals in the last five minutes. Suman Ekka and skipper Amardeep Ekka scored the two goals for SAIL. Host Rourkela Steel Plant`s Executive Director S S Mohanty gave away the trophy at the closing function.
