MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS AS ATHLETE:
*     Known as first international sprinter of Odisha.
*     Participation in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events at the 2nd Asian Games, held in Manila, Philippines, 1-9 May, 1954.
*     Won one silver medal each in 100m and 200m sprint at the 15th National Games in Jubbulpore (Now Jabalpur), Madhya Pradesh, 1953.
*     Won the 100m gold medal for Patna University at the All-India Inter-Univesity Athletic Meet in Allahabad, 1950.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
*     Gave up sports to pursue higher education in United Kingdom.
*     Legendary athlete Nanda Krushna Das inspired him to take to sprint.
*     Began his career as a physician at Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela in 1967 after obtaining a degree in surgery from England.
*     Joined Mission Hospital at Nuagaon in 1969.
*     His wife, who was an anesthetist at Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela, passed away in 1991, while his son, an orthopaedic surgeon, died in a road accident in 2005.
*     Donated his two-storied house worth Rs 3 crore in Rourkela and Rs 5 lakh to Bharat Sevashram for setting up of cancer hospital, named as Pushpanjali Cancer Foundation.
*     His father was a government servent of Bihar.
